DAAD Project Leader Meeting: Advancing Higher Education Partnerships
The meeting emphasizes the “Third Mission” of HEIs, which entails not only the transfer of research results to society but also fostering commitment to regional and societal needs, with a strong focus on sustainability. With 22 ongoing DAAD-funded projects connecting German universities with institutions in Asia, this gathering aims to facilitate networking, support dialogue, and enhance cooperation among these projects.
Prof. Abdul Haris, Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology at Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, delivered the opening remarks, underscoring the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and economic stakeholders. The meeting also aimed to enhance networking among DAAD-funded projects, facilitate dialogue on effective knowledge transfer, and explore new cooperative approaches to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over the course of the meeting, participants engaged in a series of discussions, including panel sessions that addressed the impact of higher education partnerships in Indonesia and Asia. The DAAD currently supports 22 projects connecting German universities with institutions across Asia, all aimed at creating a cosmopolitan and effective educational landscape.
The meeting not only fostered collaboration but also provided a platform for sharing experiences and best practices among project leaders, enhancing the capacity of universities to contribute positively to society and the economy.
