University Cooperation Project Between Universitas Islam Riau and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and University of the Bundeswehr München on the Digitalization of Law and Society in Indonesia
In the framework of implementing the cooperation between Project DAAD, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, Universitas Islam Riau, and Universitas Airlangga, three lecturers from Universitas Islam Riau, namely Dr. Rendi Prayuda, S.IP., M.Si. from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, S. Parman, S.H., M.H. from the Faculty of Law, and Muhammad Akbar Al-Muttaqin, B.Com., M.Sc., traveled to Germany to conduct Visiting Lectures at various universities, including Fachhochschule Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Universitas der Bundeswehr Munchen, in the even semester of the academic year 2023-2024.
The visit of these three lecturers is part of the series of activities facilitated by the second joint project between University Islamic Riau (UIR) and DAAD Germany, along with two other German universities and Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) from Indonesia. The activities began with a visit to Dortmund University of Applied Sciences to observe the campus conditions, facilities, and teaching processes. This was followed by a working meeting to establish a curriculum exchange between the three campuses, focusing on student exchange processes, both Indonesian students going to Germany and German students coming to Indonesia. From UNAIR, Kukuh Leksono Suminaring Aditya, S.H., LL.M, and Ria Setyawati, S.H., M.H., LL.M., also participated as representatives in this project.
In addition to preparing the curriculum, they also discussed the preparations for several German students who will soon be coming to UIR for the Summer School program in September, totaling six students, and one female German student who will study at UIR for one semester during the Odd Semester of the 2022/2023 academic year.
The collaboration between UIR and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences under the DAAD project has been ongoing since 2021. Based on the evaluation by DAAD, it has been extended to the year 2023-2024 with the theme “Digitalization of society in Indonesia.” The activities involved include student exchange between Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and UIR, exchange of professors and lecturers between Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and UIR, and a planned joint curriculum collaboration between UIR – Dortmund University of Applied Sciences – UNAIR in 2024. Among the activities that have been carried out is an international community service (PKM) conducted in the Pulau Gadang tourism village.
This event took place on September 29, 2022, with the theme “empowerment of the creative economy of the community and introduction of local culture to foreign students.” The PKM involved foreign exchange students and lecturers from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences Germany. All these activities demonstrate Universitas Islam Riau’s commitment and capability to become a globally recognized university, in line with its vision and mission.
